The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).
A DBS check is a report from the police which details any and all entries the police have on their system for you. This is just a formality for most people and is purely a precautionary measure to ensure children and young people are safe on their activities. The search is for relevant records, so, for instance, there is no need to worry if you want to work with children but have a speeding ticket!
Momentum is an umbrella organisation with the Disclosure Barring Service allowing small organisations to undertake DBS applications for the staff and volunteers through us. Members have a reduction in the costs of DBS applications. No minimum number of applications required.
NB: We carry out DBS checks for Child Workforce. For Adult Workforce, please contact Charity Backroom.
Momentum is now offering an online DBS application service in addition to the paper DBS application service. Our prices are detailed in our tables below.

Momentum has sample policy documents to help you with this. A registration form will need to be completed in order for your online account to be set up.
