DBS Evidence Checking Workshop

These workshops have been created to help evidence checkers remain compliant with the rules and regulations of checking DBS applicants’ identification and validating their identity.

As part of our compliance as an umbrella organisation we have to ensure that those who check evidence have received training around this and that evidence checking is accurate. Momentum (Norfolk) will no longer accept DBS applications from organisations that do not have a signed DBS Agreement in place and have named evidence checkers that have not attended the training.

Organisations can have more than one named evidence checker but these must be declared in your agreement with Momentum (Norfolk) and all must attend the workshop. You do not have to attend a workshop if you do not currently check evidence or wish to in the future. Those who wish to gain confidence in checking DBS applications are very welcome to attend.

Aims & Objectives

To ensure that DBS applicants have their evidence and identity properly checked. To improve the quality of DBS applications submitted to Momentum (Norfolk).

Participants will:

  • understand the importance of checking applicants’ identity and evidence properly.
  • be confident in checking a DBS application
  • know the common mistakes made on DBS applications
  • understand the different levels of disclosure and what is regulated activity
  • be confident in asking for the correct identity documents and know how to record these

Target audience

If you use our DBS service and currently check evidence for your organisation or you wish to become an evidence checker for your organisation then you must attend a DBS Evidence Checking Workshop.

There is an expectation that those who check evidence and DBS applications will have a level of responsibility within the organisation, which includes some HR function.
