Job role outline

The Funding Officer will support the Funding Manager in delivering the targets in our fundraising strategy relating to trusts and grants. You will be responsible for securing income to achieve the ambitious “Build The Nest” capital project and revenue funding to deliver programmes across the Foundations key themes including Health, Disability and Community. The successful applicant will have the skills to research and filter potential grant funders and shape and develop compelling applications based on need and impact.

Objectives

  • To research and identify trust and grants that meet the needs of the charity for capital and revenue projects
  • To clearly articulate the needs and impact that the income from trusts and grants will achieve
  • To steward relationships with smaller scale funders and maintain records of fundraising activity
  • To contribute to the achievement of trusts and grants income targets

Role specific responsibilities

Funding

  • Work closely with colleagues to prepare compelling cases for support and project proposals
  • Write tailored applications to local and national funders which will benefit the capital appeal and delivery of projects
  • Be a representative for the charity at networking and fundraising events where required and effectively engage with all stakeholders

Research

  • Use a range of tools to research and identify prospective trusts and other grant giving bodies whose aim and objectives are aligned with Community Sports Foundation and the Nest

Relationship Building

  • Support the Funding Manager to develop an achievable schedule of applications that meet the needs of the charities income generation targets
  • Ensure trusts and grants funders know and understand the impact the charity has on its beneficiaries through your applications
  • Develop personalised relationships with trusts with the aim of ensuring that every communication with a supporter helps to deepen and nurture their support
  • As required, plan and organise opportunities for trust supporters to experience the Foundation’s work first hand, through visits to our service, ensuring that all relevant safeguarding and risk assessment measures are taken

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Report to the Funding Manager to update on targets and performance
  • Maintain funder records on database and support the Funding Manager to produce reports and updates for funders, ensuring effective communication with current and prospective funders
