Housing Manager

YMCA NorfolkHours: 37.5 Hours per week

Location: Norwich

Salary: £15.23 per hour

Contract: Permanent

The Role:

The Housing Manager will ensure the effective operational delivery of Housing Services to residents, towards our mission of transforming young lives.

The Housing Manager will be required to:

  • Ensure that young people are treated with respect and dignity, and are empowered to make informed decisions about their own lives.
  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment that encourages young people to belong, gives them opportunities to contribute, in order that they can thrive.
  • Ensure young people are effectively risk assessed and fully inducted into the service.
  • Develop and implement a programme of housing related support and positive activities.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance of the building.
  • Ensure management of License Tenancy’s in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Embed restorative approaches in dealing with anti-social behaviour and breaches of tenancy.

The post holder will act as designated safeguarding officer participating in a duty manager’s rota.

What you’ll need to succeed:

The Housing Manager will need a proven record of housing knowledge including regulation, Supporting People and QAF outcomes. We would expect them to have knowledge of the issues facing homeless young people and a demonstrable understanding of assessment of risk/need. The successful candidate would have knowledge of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults in relation to housing as well as recent Housing and Tenancy management experience. The Housing Manager should have experience of Line Management and interpersonal skills, sufficient to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff and external contacts. The manager needs to be confident in dealing with problematic behaviour including potential violence. They need to be able and willing to work unsocial hours.
