Self-employed Sessional Youth Worker (temporary)

SYEPHours: 6 hours per week – Tuesday and Thursday Evenings (50 weeks of the year)
although flexibility as to days may be required. Possibility of some Saturday working
by negotiation

Salary: £10 per hour

Contract: Temporary, Funding for 1 year has been secured – possibility of extension and hours increase
depending on future funding.

Due to expansion of the work of the Sprowston Youth Engagement Project (SYEP) a suitably experienced sessional youth worker is needed to assist the SYEP team to support, develop and deliver its projects in helping young people (age 13 – 18 years) through the provision of a range of activities that develop their social, physical, mental and spiritual capacities, promoting self-worth, independence, a sense of responsibility and respect for others.

What we need:

The applicant will be expected to have experience of working within the youth work field and hold qualifications relevant to the role. You will need a high level of resilience and adaptability with developed listening and verbal skills, an enthusiasm and passion for young people and communities with the ability to build and promote healthy, positive lasting relationships with young people. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and an understanding of safeguarding is a key requirement.
