To increase understanding of Contextual Safeguarding practice and its impact on young people.
By the end of this course participants should:
Understand adolescent development and the implications on the behaviour and vulnerability of young people.
Understand the context in which young people experience abuse.
Understand the difference and interaction between Child Sexual Exploitation, Child Criminal Exploitation and Contextual Safeguarding.
Understand the dynamic risks that exist and impact on the safety of young people.
Understand challenges in the multi-disciplinary child protection response to adolescent vulnerability.
Have knowledge of local and national resources and approaches which will help with adopting a contextually informed approach to safeguarding work with young people.
Target Staff: This course is aimed at all front-line practitioners and managers working with children and young people.
