Leeway is a Norfolk based specialist domestic abuse charity. The domestic abuse awareness training Leeway provides is a half-day interactive programme designed to support delegates to identify the signs of domestic abuse. This training is aimed at people in organisations and voluntary groups who work with adults, children and young people as well as managers and HR professionals.
Course Aims
The Domestic abuse awareness training will:
develop delegates' understanding of the impact and effects of domestic abuse
equip you with the knowledge to identify the signs of domestic abuse
give you the confidence to correctly deal with people who are encountering abuse and refer them to relevant support agencies.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session, the delegates will:
Have an understanding of what domestic violence and abuse is
Understand the relationship between domestic abuse and power and control
Understand differences between stranger violence and abuse and domestic violence and abuse
Be able to give reasons why people might find it difficult to leave abusive relationships
Recognise the impact of domestic violence and abuse on children and young people
Understand some basic difficulties of parenting following domestic abuse
