The Charity Commission is replacing “Hallmarks of an Effective Charity” and “The Essential Trustee” with the Charity Good Governance Code, which provides the benchmark of effective charity governance. This session is aimed at Trustees and grassroots organisations and will provide an overview of the Code to support the ongoing development of your organisation as well as practical tools for the day to day management of your organisation.

This session will introduce charities to the guide, and to support them to ensure they are running effectively and legally. .

Course Aims

The session will cover:

  • The role of the Trustee and charity context.
  • Organisational purpose.
  • Leadership and integrity.
  • Decision making and risk control.
  • Board effectiveness and diversity.
  • Accountability and engagement.

Learning Outcomes

Delegates will be familiar with the Charity Governance Code and will leave with an understanding of what is required for effective charity governance.
