What we do

What We Do

Momentum (Norfolk) supports voluntary and community organisations working with children and young people in Norfolk. Our aim is to support the development of our members to build a vibrant and diverse voluntary and community sector that inspires, involves and empowers the young people that they work with.

We do this through:

The Training Hub

We have a wide variety of courses, which are intended to develop the skills and knowledge of staff and volunteers working with children and young people.  Our courses are open to members and non-members. Our members enjoy a substantial discount on courses. We have a subsidised training programme for those that wish to enter into youth work.  We also advertise courses that you, our member groups, provide and that other organisations and individuals can access.

Funding Opportunities

Momentum has a small grants programme to help you deliver high quality activities for young people, which our members can apply to.  We also keep you informed of other funding opportunities. Our links with Ambition allow our members to access funding which they would otherwise not have been able to.

Disclosure and Barring Service Checks and Safeguarding

Momentum is an umbrella organisation with the Disclosure Barring Service allowing small organisations to undertake DBS applications for the staff and volunteers through us. Members have a reduction in the costs of DBS applications.

Our partnership with the Safer programme enables our members (under £100k) to have free or reduced cost membership.

Disability and Inclusion

We believe that all young people should have access to activities and opportunities.  We want to support you to ensure that what you offer is accessible and inclusive for all young people.  Go Do Norfolk is our free online directory of youth groups and activities for children and young people.  Listings help children and young people to find out which are accessible to them.  Members get a premium listing.

We act as a voice for our members in a variety of forums and provide a central point for information and guidance on a wide range of issues. We ensure that effective communication takes place between Norfolk County Council, Statutory partnerships and our member organisations that directly affect their work with children and young people.
